The Training Field

A rocky flat with sparse grasses, barely enough to be called a field. Usually where energy swords are used as training, either by waving it around in slashes or practice battling. The blades are too hot to be used on the heatproof dummies, which is saying something.

I looked around the field and grabbed my new sword. I sighed and fed light energy into it. The power meter went up until reaching maximum. A few canines stood around me, waiting for the 'light saber's' debut. I pressed a button on it and a few gasps came. A reddish purple blade emerged from the handle. I heard some 'oohs' and 'aahs.' The sword hummed a bit, and I made an arc with it. It hummed louder, then softened. I smiled. It worked perfectly. I stabbed, slashed, and did assorted moved at nothing. The dark twins challenged me to a practice battle. I accepted. The powered up their swords and got ready. They both lunged, and I blocked. The swords made a loud zap sound when they hit each other. Soon I had won, quite easily. Cheers erupted.

The sun was almost completly set. Only a few more minutes of precious light were available.

I got a pain in my heart. It seemed something was up at Icarus Peak. Sparky had lied to me. I knew how Clover felt. A massive anger formed inside me. I controlled it enough to not rampage, but instead warped to Icarus Peak.

The group climbed down the mountain, and two of the three started to practice one on one. The clumsy ine waited for Sparky to get down.

"I'm here!"I I shouted, weilding my infamous sword, Blanec. I faced the clumsy one and smiled, "Oh, hey! I didn't catch your name. I'm Sparky.. something of a new recruit," I laughed and stuck out my hand, the other clutching my blade.

"Me too! My name is Leaf!" His name was a good one, as his fur had flecks of green. "That's a cool sword. You like mine?" He pulled out a fencing foil, only with green energy wofting around it. Leaf would be a better socialite than warrior. "You ready?"

"Ready when you are," I shrugged, going into a fighting position.

Leaf made a few hand movements, then a violent movement toward the ground. He vanished inderground, coming up behind her. "At your six." Leaf reminded. He didn't want to actually hurt her, just test her reaction time.

My usually giant, thick sword transformed into two tiny daggers, each in my grasp. I tilted my head and heard every movement, every lunge of his sword, an doged most but got hit hard once on the shoulder. As he came up behind me, I nodded and attempted to at least scrape his leg, my daggers coming in from either side at lightning speed.

"Ok." Leaf said. He was amazing at one on one. He often tested his enemies' abilities before he actually starts fighting. He blocked the daggers with rock walls, and jumped over her. He held his sword right at her, then lowered it. "I love a good practice battle." Leaf sighed.

I nodded, sighing, "Aye, same here, 'though I would've jsut blocked your sword with my daggers, or at the very least a bit of metal or ice." I laughed and shook his hand, a sign I had a good battle, practice or real.

"And I would have leapt over you and gotten you with an earth punch." He sighed and sat on a bench.

"And then I.. ah, forget it, at least we had a good time." I sighed and sat next to him, watching others battle and train. Some novice, some porbably a vicious challenge for me.

"Yep." "Why did you join the Canine Army? I joined because feline thugs killed my mom. My dad tipped em off. He was an undercover feline spy, even though he was a canine. To this day I don't know why he did it. I'm still trying to hunt him down, along with those thugs he paid to kill my mom." Leaf was inderstamdably referring to her as his mom, as he was still around teenage.

"I was starting to get a bit tired. When you're alone it can drive you to insanity."

"Huh." Leaf shrugged.

I shrugged as well, "Sometimes, when you get lonely to inanity, you start to mistake friends for prey."

'Makes sense... Sorta. I have a group that has been helping me find them."

I just sighed and looked up at the sky, "Well, today's my first day, I guess. I hve a lot of experience, but I'm still probsbly gonna be claled a "New Recruit" for the next couple weeks."

"That depends on quite a few factors."

I shrugged, "Never know."

"It usually depends on your relationship with the General."

"Of course. But I'll still hear mumbles now and again - my ears don't decieve me." I chuckled and bit, but straightened up.

"Huh." Leaf shrugged again.

"Meh.." I sighed and got up, yawning.
